Born in Strasbourg, France, in 1971, Sébastien « Zeb » Heintz starts playing the guitar at age 14 with teacher Guilles Charlois. He is quickly taught the various techniques of Blues guitar playing, such as picking and slide, as well as harmony and improvisation. At age 16, with his teacher’s help and driven by his budding passion, he is able to play on a regular basis in Strasbourg clubs and to attend the performances of such seminal guitarists as Alain Giroux and Marcel Dadi.

After graduating with honors with a music degree from the Centre Musical Créatif de Nancy (CMCN) he tours across eastern France, Germany and Switzerland with several bands (e.g. Cold Shot, Backbone, The Words) and opens for several artists and bands, such as Johnny Copeland, Magic Slim, Jimmy Johnson, and Canned Heat.

Following these formative years and a move to Brittany on the west coast of France, he leaves for Boston in 1996 to record his first album, Talkin’ to your Soul (Night & Day), with his guitarist and singer friend Matt Woodburn under the band name Zeb and the Blues Machine.

After recording a second album and a two-year stint with the Blues Machine he joins the band Doo the Doo in 1998 and tours with them for five years across all of Europe playing in festivals and blues clubs. In [.…] they appear at the Montreal Jazz Festival.

Subsequent to being awarded the Euroblues trophy of best guitarist in 2001, Zeb works on a swing album entitled Cool Swing Guitar, which is selected by French distributor FNAC as part of its Hommage to Django Rheinardt.

In 2005 he founds the soul-jazz band SNAP together with members of the old Blues Machine (C.le Goff /Hammond B3, and S.Stanger /drums), as well as a successful guitar school in collaboration with L. Chaveneau, thus enabling him to share the fruits of his musical experience.
